It is very obvious to panic when you notice that your iPhone is not near you. Often times it is lost under a pile of documents or clothes, and while being engrossed in work, we forget where we kept it sometimes, and iPhone gets stolen too, in such a scenario there are few ways to find the iPhone. Assuming you have already done a few obvious things i.e. tried to call on the iPhone, asked your roommate/colleague/friends if they saw it, or even searched your desk. This article will explain a few ways to find a lost iPhone.

Using Apple Watch to Ping your iPhone

You can ping your iPhone using your Apple watch. So if your iPhone is anywhere near you but missed your sight while physically searching then this feature of Apple Watch can trace your iPhone for you. Maybe your iPhone is just below some stuff, or might have fallen at the side of the bed, or maybe your kids just hid it from you, just try to ping your iPhone.

To ping your iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open Control Center on your Apple Watch
  2. Scroll down a bit, you will find the Ping iPhone button.
  3. Tap on the Ping iPhone button.

Note: this method works only when your Apple Watch and iPhone are connected via Bluetooth or they are connected to the same Wi-Fi.

Using Find My App on Another Apple Device

If you have another Apple device using the same Apple ID then you can use the Find My app to trace the lost iPhone. The other device can be iPhone, iPad, or Mac doesn’t matter.

With this method, you can get the location and directions to your lost iPhone. Apart from getting the location, just like Apple Watch, you can also ping your iPhone from the Find My app. So first, to find your iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Find My app on an Apple device that is using the same Apple ID. It can be any device, iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
  2. Click on the Devices tab. On the Mac, it is at the top, and on iPhone and iPad, it is at the bottom of the window.
  3. Here click on the iPhone that you have just lost.
  4. Click on Directions.

This will show you the location in the Maps app. Follow the direction and find your iPhone. If your phone is stolen and shows up in a different or odd location, then consider going to the police.

Now, as said above, this Find My app can also ping your lost iPhone. To ping your lost iPhone using the Find My app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Find My app on an Apple device that is using the same Apple ID. It can be any device, iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
  2. Click on the Devices tab. On the Mac, it is at the top, and on iPhone and iPad, it is at the bottom of the window.
  3. Here click on the iPhone that you have just lost.
  4. Click on Pay Sound.

Using iCloud on any Computer or Smartphone

If you don’t have another Apple device with the same Apple ID, you can still locate your iPhone using iCloud. You can access iCloud from any computer or smartphone. To find your lost iPhone using iCloud, follow these steps:

  1. Visit icloud.com from any smartphone or computer.
  2. Log in with your Apple ID (the same ID as your lost iPhone)
  3. Click on the Find iPhone button.

You will see your iPhone’s last location. Unlike the Find My app, iCloud doesn’t give your location using a Map.
