The screenshot is a super handy function to capture the data on the screen, be it to quickly note any information from a website, social media, application, or live stream. In this article, I will share with you a few methods to take screenshot on iPhone. Depending upon which model of iPhone you are using you can try a specific method that supports your phone. I will try to mention if a certain method is model specific.
Method # 1: Side Button + Volume Up Botton
This method is applicable to all newer iPhone models (from iPhone X onwards to recent models) which don’t have a home button. In this method, you have to simply press the Side button and Volume Up button together. The iPhone screen will flash once and the screenshot will be captured. You can now release the buttons. A small thumbnail will be visible at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds. You can now go to Photos App -> Album -> Screenshots to see your captured screenshot.
Shortcut to image editor: When your screenshots thumbnail is showing at the bottom of your screen, you can tap over it and this will open the image in an editor. It has a few very handy editing tools.
Method # 2: Home Button + Side Button
If your iPhone has a home button, then to capture a screenshot you have to simply press the Home button and Side button together till your screen blinks for a second and the screenshot is captured.
This method is applicable to all older iPhone models which had a Home button.
Method # 3: Ask Siri to take a Screenshot
You can instruct Siri to take screenshots. This becomes very convenient when your hands are busy. Give your instruction by saying “Hey Siri, take a screenshot”. After saying that, Siri will acknowledge your request and capture the screenshot.
Make sure you are running iOS 14 or above for using this feature.
Method # 4: Using AssistiveTouch
AssistiveTouch is a good accessibility feature available on iPhone and iPad. With this, you don’t need to press any buttons to take a screenshot. Before getting started, we need to do two things:
- To enable AssistiveTouch go to Settings -> Accessibility -> Touch -> AssistiveTouch -> move the Toggle to Turn-On AssistiveTouch.
- Now next step is to choose how to take a screenshot; let’s say we want to do a double tap to take a screenshot. So to enable that go to Settings -> Accessibility -> Touch -> AssistiveTouch -> Double-Tap -> Screenshot
Now, once the above two settings are done, your iPhone is ready to take screenshots using AssistiveTouch. You will see an AssistiveTouch circle on your screen, you just have to double-tap on it and your screenshot will be captured.
Method # 5: Tapping on the Back of your iPhone
You can also tap on the back of your iPhone to take screenshots. To enable this feature go to Settings -> Accessibility -> Touch -> Back Tap -> Double-Tap -> Screenshot
Now, whenever you double tap on the back of your iPhone it will capture a screenshot. You can also set it for triple tap. This is a handy feature, but in my personal opinion, I don’t recommend anyone to use this feature for below two reasons:
- If you are using a thick case for your iPhone, it is likely that your phone won’t be able to register your taps properly, so you might need to tap multiple times.
- Another thing, there might be some unintentional screenshots getting captured just because of your finger movements, so be careful about it.
Method # 6: Screenshot Full Web Page on iPhone
iPhone enables you to take screenshots of an entire webpage on the browser. For that, all you have to do is:
- Open the website on the Safari browser
- Take screenshot using any menthod given above
- Click on the thumbnail of screenshot on the screen
- Select Full Page
- Tap on Done
When you save a full page screenshot, iPhone gives you an additional option to save it as PDF file. So you can either save as PDF file or just save it as JPG image.
Conclusion
