Connect Existing AirPods with Mac

If you have already paired your AirPods with your iPhone or iPad, then you don’t need to go through the pairing process altogether. If you are using the same Apple ID on your Mac, then the AirPods must show up in the Bluetooth device list. To connect your existing AirPods with Mac, all you need to do is:

Step 1: Bring your AirPod’s charging case near to the Mac.

Step 2: From the top menu bar, click on the Bluetooth icon. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled.

Step 3: Select your AirPods and click Connect.

Done, your AirPods are now connected to the Mac. You can now take your earbuds out of the AirPods case and put them in your ears. By default, the Automatic Ear Detection is enabled, so once you put the earbuds in your ear, you will hear the connection chime telling you that the Mac has switched audio output to AirPods.

If you are connecting a fresh new AirPods with your Mac, which is not yet paired with your iPhone or iPad, then follow these steps as explained below:

Step 1: Click on the Apple icon from the top left corner of the screen and click on System Preferences from the menu.

Step 2: Go to Bluetooth, and ensure that the Bluetooth is enabled.

Step 3: Bring your AirPod’s charging case near to the Mac, and press-hold the setup button on the AirPod’s charging case until the status indicator light flashes white. Now, the AirPod is in pairing mode.

Step 4: Within a few seconds, the AirPods will show up in the Devices list on your Mac. Now click on the Connect button showing next to your AirPods device.

Done, your AirPods are now connected to your Mac. You can now take your earbuds out of the AirPods case and put them in your ears. Configure AirPods on Mac

When your AirPods are connected to the Mac, you can see its battery status too. Just click on the Volume Control button from the top menu bar, in the drop-down menu, in the list of Output Devices you will see the battery status shown next to the AirPods.
